Weyburn wins SPBLAA Championship

The Weyburn Beavers will advance to the Western Canadian Baseball Championship being held in St. Albert, Alberta.


Estevan Brewers 18U AA got on the board in the first inning after Hayden Terrett grounded out, scoring one run.


Connor McIndoe singled to the left side of the infield, which helped Weyburn Beavers 18U AA tie the game at one in the top of the second.


Estevan Brewers 18U AA took the lead in the bottom of the second. Blake Andrist singled, scoring one run, to give Estevan Brewers 18U AA the leg up, 2-1.


Weyburn Beavers 18U AA jumped into the lead in the top of the third when Isaac MacKay grounded out, scoring two runs, and Austin Zackrisson hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.


Noah Bourassa earned the win for Weyburn Beavers 18U AA. The pitcher gave up three hits and two runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking none. Broden Henry took the loss for Estevan Brewers 18U AA. The hurler went four innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits, striking out one and walking three.


Andrist went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Andrist, Terrett, Lincoln Spencer, and Reese Copeland each collected one hit for Estevan Brewers 18U AA. Andrist stole three bases. Estevan Brewers 18U AA turned two double plays in the game.


Morgan Lacoste and McIndoe each collected two hits for Weyburn Beavers 18U AA. Zackrisson, Gage Kaufmann, MacKay, and McIndoe each drove in one run for Weyburn Beavers 18U AA.
