Brady Nakonechny A Difficult Out As Western Dust Devils 15U AA Defeat SaskFive Giants

Brady Nakonechny collected five hits in five at bats, as Western Dust Devils 15U AA defeated SaskFive Giants 19-9 on Sunday at Blue Jay Ball Diamond. Nakonechny doubled in the third inning, singled in the first inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the fifth inning.


Western Dust Devils 15U AA jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Van Gieni doubled, scoring two runs, and Cole Sittler singled, scoring one run.


SaskFive Giants flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 5-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Reed Balas following a 7-pitch at-bat that drove in two.


SaskFive Giants committed an error, which helped Western Dust Devils 15U AA tie the game at five in the bottom of the second.


In the top of the third inning, SaskFive Giants went back into the lead after Jace Loberg singled to center field, and Bretton Bugler grounded into a double play, each scoring one run.


Western Dust Devils 15U AA captured the lead, 9-7, in the bottom of the third when Ryden Hoffman singled, scoring one run, Cole Cairns hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Nakonechny doubled, scoring two runs.


SaskFive Giants tied the game in the top of the fifth thanks to a single by Jackson Schierling, and a double by Bugler.


Western Dust Devils 15U AA flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring nine runs on eight hits to take the lead, 18-9. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Sittler that drove in two.


Kanen Reschny pitched three and one-third innings in relief for Western Dust Devils 15U AA. The right-handed pitcher allowed six hits and four runs while, striking out one and walking one. Gavin Dorosh started the game for Western Dust Devils 15U AA. The hurler surrendered five hits and five runs (three earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking none. Balas led things off on the hill for SaskFive Giants. The hurler allowed 11 hits and 10 runs (eight earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking two.


Western Dust Devils 15U AA tallied 21 hits in the game. Sittler and Cairns each drove in three runs for Western Dust Devils 15U AA. Gieni, Landon Reschny, Walker Dewald, and Hoffman each collected multiple hits for Western Dust Devils 15U AA. Cairns stole two bases. Western Dust Devils 15U AA turned one double play in the game. Western Dust Devils 15U AA were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Dewald had the most chances in the field with seven.


SaskFive Giants piled up 11 hits in the game. Schierling went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead SaskFive Giants in hits. Loberg, Balas, Bugler, Schierling, and Andie Marshall each drove in one run for SaskFive Giants.
