Baseball Canada and Saskatchewan Baseball Association rules and regulations apply to all league play with exceptions implemented by the league under these Operating Rules.

All players and coaches must be registered with the Saskatchewan Baseball Association. If any player has not been approved with a zone transfer, that player is not eligible to play in any games until a zone transfer has been approved by Baseball Saskatchewan. If that player does participate in games, that team will forfeit these games, the player stats will be eliminated, the player and Head coach will also be suspended for an indefinite period of time as decided upon by the league executive. As well there will be a sanction fine of $750, to be paid to the SPBL before that team can continue to play games.

All games will be seven innings with a 10 run mercy rule after five innings. If a game is called for any reason, it will be considered a complete game if 4 complete innings have been played (3.5 innings, if the home team is leading).

All games MUST be played. If a game is rained out or canceled for any reason, it must be rescheduled, within 24 hours of the original scheduled date of the game.

The 18 U division is 9-man baseball, teams also have an option of using a DH. The 15 U division has the following options; 9-man, 9-man with a DH, 9 man with a EH, 9 man with a DH and an EH. Coaches are responsible to familiarize yourself with the rules of how each of these options work.

Extra innings must be played out until there is a winner. There are NO tie games. The league uses the international rule where the final two hitters of the previous inning will begin on first and second, with none out. (The second last hitter in your line up from the previous inning starts at second base, the last hitter in your line up from the previous inning starts at first base.)

15U home team will have BP 1.5 hrs prior to game time, the visiting team 1 hour prior to game time. In 18U home team BP is 2 hrs prior, visiting team 1.5 hours prior. Each team have the same opportunity, example if home team takes pre-game BP on the field the visiting team must take it on the field.

Final Standings Tie - Breaking Procedure
A. Two Teams Tied with identical Win/Loss Records
1. If two teams are tied with identical Win/Loss records, apply the following in order until the tie is broken;
a) Head-to-Head record;
b) Total run differential between the tied teams;
c) Run differential for all league games
d) Total defensive runs in all league games
e) Coin Toss;
f) *** if coin toss is to determine final playoff spot, a one game playoff will be used between the tied teams to determine the final spot. Such game to be played the day after the final day of the regular season, with a coin toss determining home field/team ***
B. Three or more teams Tied with identical Win/Loss Records
1. If three or more teams are tied with identical Win/Loss Records, apply the following in order until all ties are broken;
a) Head-to-Head records
i) If one team has the head-to-head over all the remaining tied teams, that team receives the higher seed.
ii) If only two teams remain after applying (i), refer to procedure A – Two teams tied with identical Win/Loss Records to determine remaining seeds
iii) If more than two teams are tied, refer to procedure B(a) to determine the seeding of the remaining teams
iv) If no team holds the head-to-head advantage over all teams, move to procedure B (b)
b) Total Run Differential for all league games;
c) Defensive Runs for all league games;
d) Coin Toss for remaining teams to determine seeding.
